Large Burgundy and Gold Santa with Bear - Russian Santa

Large Santa Claus carving holding a bear in one hand and gold staff in the other. He's painted in rich burgundy and midnight blue/black detailed with ornate raised gold designs throughout and accented with white snowflakes. We've had dozens of Santa's holding bears from this artist over the years but never this large. Santa is beautifully finished and standing 14.5 inches in height and 7 inches in diameter, making him quite large and very solid. See photograph for size comparison of several of we currently have in stock - this piece is the largest one in the photograph. This Russian Santa Claus is hand carved from solid linden, also known as either basswood or lime. Once carved and sanded the Santa is meticulously hand painted and finished in extraordinary detail with numerous coats and finally signed or initialed by the artist.
