Simple Pleasures - 22 inch Russian Santa Claus

A large and wonderfully detailed Santa carving depicting, with scenes on both the front and backsides, the childrens joy of the holiday and a simple and conservative Christmas. Holiday spirit, friends, family, pets and a little fun in the snow. Seven children with priceless expressions sledding, building a snowman, sucking on an icecicle and just sitting on a bench in comfort fill the two detailed scenes encompassing this piece. The carving also has a Christmas tree carved into one side and Santa holds a staff in one hand and glowing lantern in the other. He has a very comforting face and expression with beautifully painted eyes. The Santa itself measures 17.5 inches in height, however with the lantern he is 22 inches tall. This Russian Santa Claus is hand carved from solid linden. Once carved and sanded the Santa is meticulously hand painted and finished in extraordinary detail with numerous coats and finally signed by the artist.
